*This program is hosted by our partner, Funders Together for Housing Justice, who has extended an invitation to PNY members.*

For all the joy the World Cup brings soccer fans worldwide, mega-events inevitably add harmful consequences, including displacement, heightened criminalization, encampment raids, surveillance, and worker exploitation. With the additional threat of immigration enforcement posing as “security,” funders committed to social and racial justice must support the organizers and elected officials in the eleven US host cities who know how to keep their communities safe.

Join Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees and Funders Together for Housing Justice in conversation with two groups leading the charge – the Dignity 2026 Coalition, coordinated by the Center for Community Health Innovation at Georgetown Law, and Local Progress, mobilizing elected officials in US host cities – alongside funders who back them.

Note: this meeting will include an invitation to invest in a pooled fund.

Speakers

  • Rahel Tekola | New World Foundation
  • Jennifer Li | Dignity 2026 Coalition, Georgetown Law
  • Jill Cartwright | Heising-Simons Foundation
  • D’Ana Pennington | Local Progress
  • Michael Durham (Moderator), Funders Together for Housing Justice
