Whether you manage difficult conversations between peers or find yourself a participant in one, challenging the norms around power in your professional partnerships is easier said than done. It’s with this in mind that we’ve cultivated a space for you to connect with your peers and practice ways to navigate difficult conversations around power dynamics, microaggressions, or implicit bias.

In this workshop, we will take the tools shared during Navigating Difficult Dialogues Across Difference – A Workshop and practice them through role-playing scenarios.

What will you learn?

  • Tools and skills for interrupting microaggressions

  • Tools and skills for managing group dynamics and conflict related to issues of identity, inequity, and difference in the workplace

  • Role-play exercises to help interrupt conversations in which conflict arises

What tools will we be practicing?

  • 5-Step Model for Facilitating Difficult Dialogues (Recording timestamp: 50:16 - 56:37)

  • 5-Step Model for Navigating Difficult Dialogues (Recording timestamp: 56:37 - 58:19)

  • Engaging Skills Tool

* In order to make the most of this session, participants should come prepared with 1-2 real-life scenario(s) in mind. We also encourage participants to review the aforementioned video clips to become more familiar with the tools we will be practicing.

Who should attend?

All funders regardless of their role. What to expect: breakouts followed by full group discussion.
