This in-person convening of the New York City Workforce Funders Collaborative will focus on high-impact workforce development models at CUNY. The session will feature the NYC Accelerated Workforce Recovery Hub supporting job seekers in the Bronx and Queens, and the Partnerships to Pathways Initiative to increase alignment between CUNY’s community colleges and major labor unions. Leaders from LaGuardia Community College and Hostos Community College will share lessons learned from the launch of the NYC Accelerated Workforce Recovery Hub, a new model to help Bronx and Queens residents disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic earn industry-recognized credentials and connect to good jobs in healthcare, tech, and construction. CUNY and labor union leaders will then introduce Partnerships to Pathways, a consortium of 7 community colleges led by LaGuardia Community College. This new effort aims to expand community college - labor union partnerships and build training pathways to meet unions’ needs. The session will close with a discussion of CUNY’s systemwide strategy to drive career-connected learning and student career success.
