In early April, more than a dozen local women’s organizations will convene in Iraq to share strategies to confront ISIS occupation, sectarian conflict and pervasive gender-based violence, including systematic sexual slavery. Hear their policy recommendations for securing the lives and human rights of women, girls and LGBT Iraqis. Learn about their work to document human rights abuses in ISIS-controlled areas and provide emergency relocation, safe-housing and other critical services to those most at risk.
Join us for a lunch-time panel discussion with frontline Iraqi activists representing the Organization of Women's Freedom in Iraq and a broad coalition of Iraqi women’s organizations.
  • The power of international partnerships to sustain and propel the work of grassroots women in warzones
  • Lessons learned from women’s organizations that combine service-delivery in crisis settings with movement-building and inter-movement alliances to generate social change
  • Next steps in pursuit of policy reform to support women’s and LGBT rights in Iraq
