A Philanthropy New York’s Collaborative Program, presented with Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: All interested funders, particularly those active in children, youth and family, education, employment, social/emotional, health, and gender-specific issues.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The philanthropic investment in men and boys of color has significantly increased in the past several years. Public and private foundations are supporting a number of initiatives aimed at improving educational, employment, social/emotional, and health outcomes for this vulnerable population.

To understand the impact of previous investments and inform practice going forward, Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families (GCYF) and Thinking Man Consulting (TMC), have both conducted studies to map the philanthropic investment and availability of programs supporting men and boys of color. These mapping studies have revealed common investment areas and promising practices, as well as the gaps that remain.

Children, youth and family funders and others interested in crafting gender-specific funding initiatives are encouraged to attend. Join your colleagues in an engaging and interactive session where we will share what we have learned, answer questions about the scope and character of existing male-focused initiatives and plan for future investments in men and boys of color.

PRESENTERS

  • Stephanie McGencey, Ph.D., MPH, Executive Director, Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families.
