The New York Community Trust invites funders to a working group for funders to share updates and discuss how immigrant-serving nonprofits are preparing for the new administration. The group meets remotely on Wednesdays, and will continue on a bi-weekly basis as long as members find it useful.
During this meeting, Judge Serita will speak about the Human Trafficking Court, which handles prostitution charges for participants who are almost exclusively immigrant women. She will speak about the impact of recent police efforts to enforce anti-prostitution laws in Queens and about how nonprofits and philanthropy can help the women who are brought before her court.
Speaker
-
The Honorable Toko Serita, Acting Supreme Court Justice, Queens County Problem Solving Courts, Queens Criminal Court
