This program is hosted by our partner, Asset Funders Network , who has extended an invitation to PNY members.
Financial security is a cornerstone of exiting abuse and creating long-term safety as economic abuse can prolong and trap survivors in gender-based violence. Please join Asset Funders Network and FreeFrom as we explore how systemic inequities—from housing instability to the wage gap, to lack of comprehensive financial products and services—are compounded by financial harm tactics like coerced debt. We will identify innovative, low-barrier, and survivor-centered funding models that disrupt the cycle of violence.
Together we will:
- Deepen funder and stakeholder understanding of the connection between economic abuse and gender-based violence
- Analyze current gaps in funding and services that hinder financial security for survivors
- Present a roadmap for shifting funding priorities from crisis response to long-term survivor wealth-building and economic justice
- Identify opportunities for cross-sector collaboration to integrate financial security strategies into GBV interventions
Speakers:
- Nichole Davis, Deputy Commissioner, New York City Office of Financial Empowerment
- Camille Emeagwali, Senior Vice President, New York Women’s Foundation
- Sharisse Kimbro, Senior Manager and Program Officer, The Allstate Foundation
- Sonya Passi, Founder and CEO, FreeFrom
