Committee on Members
About the Committee
The Committee on Members serves as a critical thought partner to Philanthropy New York staff and board. The committee acts as a key stakeholder to support the organization in living into its mission, vision and values in a way that engages the full PNY community to strive for a more equitable, sustainable and democratic ecosystem. The committee partners with PNY staff to examine and practice the values of the organization and communicate the benefits of belonging to the greater PNY community. Members also work with staff on the structure and strategy of both membership engagement and recruitment activities. Committee members extend the reach of PNY staff by networking and building relationships with fellow and prospective PNY members.
The Committee holds three capacities:
1) Sounding board: Provide PNY board and staff with a trusted “preview” space. Serve as a member focus group to inform staff and board decision making. Serve as a thought partner to staff and board as we strive to live into our organizational values.
2) Ambassador for the Organization: Extend the reach of board and staff to engage current and prospective members. Continually strengthen the connection between members and PNY.
3) Advisor on Membership Policies: Support Board and staff in making decisions about membership policies and practices, including eligibility, types of memberships and dues structure.
Committee Membership
Philanthropy New York committee service offers members an opportunity to substantively contribute to the organization, provide leadership to the sector, and expand your professional network.

- ready to partner with staff and board to advance PNY’s current strategic framework and priorities,
- committed to critical inquiry around issues of race and racism in our committee discussions and will bring a basic understanding of race, equity, and the dimensions of racism to the committee.
