Philanthropy Leaders Call for Greater Role in Tackling Global Challenges Defined in New Sustainable Development Goals
 
Ahead of the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit, where member states are expected to adopt the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the SDG Philanthropy Platform is calling for greater philanthropic engagement in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.  
 
A partnership of the United Nations Development Programme, Foundation Center, and Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, with support from the MasterCard, Ford, and Conrad N. Hilton foundations, the SDG Philanthropy Platform works to connect funders with development programs, ensure that they are included in the development of policy agendas, and facilitate partnerships among foundations, governments, UN agencies, civil society organizations, and businesses. Its September 24 conference, "Philanthropy Engaged: Implementing and Achieving the Post-2015 Agenda," brought together a hundred and fifty leaders from across the philanthropic, public, and private sectors to discuss opportunities for philanthropy to help realize the seventeen SDGs aimed at ending poverty, fighting inequality and injustice, and tackling climate change by 2030 — locally, nationally, regionally, and globally...
