Weinberg Foundation Matching Grant Initiaitive Raises More than $9 Million for Workforce Development
The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, one of the largest private foundations in the United States, in partnership with the Jewish Funders Network, announced today $9.3 million in total funding for a matching grant initiative intended to energize the philanthropic community in the area of workforce development. Specifically, this 1:1 match program seeks to increase the number of funders, as well as the amount of grant dollars, supporting organizations and projects that address unemployment and underemployment for both the Jewish and nonJewish communities.
Sixty-one foundations or individuals not only matched but exceeded the Weinberg Foundation’s support of $3.6 million, providing an additional $5.7 million. As a result, a total of $9.3 million will be distributed to 29 direct service providers in the United States and Israel who focus on career training and advancement....
