Rockefeller Foundation Commits $64 Million to 100 Resilient Cities
The Rockefeller Foundation has announced an additional commitment of $64 million to the 100 Resilient Cities network and the launch of its third and final partner city challenge.
The final cohort of participating cities will be selected based on a city's demonstrated commitment to building resilience to the complex challenges of the twenty-first century — namely, urbanization, globalization, and climate change — along with strong mayoral leadership and commitment to the 100RC initiative. Since 2013, sixty-seven cities have been selected through two challenge rounds. Applications for the final round will be accepted through November 24, and the winning cities will be announced in April 2016. Each city in the 100RC network receives financial and logistical guidance for establishing a chief resilience officer position responsible for leading its resilience efforts; technical assistance in support of the development of a robust resilience strategy; access to solutions, service providers, and partners from the private, public, and NGO sectors; and membership in a global network of participating cities to facilitate knowledge sharing....
