United Hospital Fund Produces User-Friendly Data Sets to Advance Population Health in New York
 
The United Hospital Fund today published a compendium of short, easily digestible regional chartbooks that provide a high-level overview of service utilization of New York’s Medicaid beneficiaries.
 
“We created these data sets to fill a void we’ve heard about time and again recently, especially from stakeholders involved in the creation of Performing Provider Systems,” said Chad Shearer, director of the Medicaid Institute at United Hospital Fund and an author of the compendium. “While the data were already publicly available, we have aggregated particularly relevant pieces from multiple Department of Health sources and organized them in a user-friendly way. We expect these will be useful to health care providers, policymakers, and other stakeholders.”
 
Others may use the chartbooks as a snapshot to assess the current state of Medicaid population health in New York’s varied regions. Policymakers may find the new organization a helpful way to look at the State data, particularly the measures in quality and utilization....
