These days the term “infographic” seems to be applied to just about any graphic with some numbers. But conveying complex ideas or information through visualization is an art form that more and more funders and nonprofits want to get right. This hands-on session will bring communications professionals together with one of the best in the field. Andrew Shea, of the design studio MANY, and author of Designing for Social Change, will lead a workshop for foundation communicators making clearer what infographics actually are, how to engage in the development process and how to make them work for your organization.
Data and a multitude of worthy causes are all around us. When presented with so much information, one often wonders – what does it all mean? How should we interpret it? Concisely conveying meaning visually is a skill that few have mastered. Data visualization is exactly as it sounds - an artful representation of data that moves the viewer to deeper understanding more quickly than extensive text. It is an art form that can be learned.
This is a convening of the local affinity group Public Policy Communicators NYC.
