Ford Is Among Funders Exploring How To Respond To Issues Raised By Ferguson Shooting
The Ford Foundation is among national and local funders exploring how to respond to social justice issues that have surfaced since the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Mo., and the police response to the protests that followed.
The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports that Ford, which is a member of the Executives’ Alliance, a group of foundation leaders who work on projects aimed at improving the lives of young minority members, invited "leading thinkers" to a meeting at its offices in NYC earlier this week to share their perspectives on Ferguson.
Spokesman Joseph Voeller said in an e-mail that the foundation "plans to continue to follow all of this very closely in the weeks ahead."...
