What's Keeping Bloomberg Busy These Days
Since he left office six months ago, former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, along with Bloomberg Philanthropies, has been focusing on issues ranging from climate change to gun violence to boosting fish populations in the Philippines, Chile and Brazil.
In a profile of Bloomberg in the July issue of Capital magazine, Dana Rubstein writes:
"With Bloomberg Philanthropies and with Bloomberg Associates—the urbanist, nonprofit consulting sister group that’s now advising Mexico City and London while serving as a life raft for several of the mayor’s former commissioners—with Everytown for Gun Safety (the new umbrella organization housing Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America) and with his climate initiative C40; his partnerships on public health, immigration, coal, oceans, and infrastructure, Bloomberg is less constrained than ever in his pursuit of politically controversial goals that he regards as simple, science-driven common sense."....
