Burke Foundation’s Catalyst Program Seeking Applications
For those working in the early childhood development sector, the Burke Foundation is seeking applications for its Catalyst Program. In collaboration with Robin Hood’s Blue Ridge Labs, which is a Brooklyn-based social impact incubator that supports technology-enabled solutions to issues of poverty. We are funding the next Catalyst program, which has a specific focus on children’s issues, as well as the health, financial security, and cohesiveness of families.
The program is seeking those building a social venture or creating technological tools that could improve the lives of low-income children and families in New York City. The program requires social entrepreneurs to quickly demonstrate that their product works and has the potential to deliver significant impact. The Blue Ridge team will provide mentorship and support to help Catalyst participants figure out how to set up and run a sustainable, effective organization. The Blue Ridge team also provides financial and non-financial support over the course of six months to help launch a beta test, secure critical talent, and make key decisions about their operating and funding model.
The Catalyst runs from November 2017-April 2018, and the application deadline is Friday September 1. The selected teams will be announced in late October. You can learn more at the Blue Ridge Labs website (https://labs.robinhood.org/catalyst/), join a weekly webinar for more information (https://labs.robinhood.org/info-sessions/), and reach out to the Blue Ridge Labs team directly at blueridgelabs@robinhood.org with any questions.
