Brooklyn Community Foundation: Seeking Brooklyn Youth for Paid Leadership Programs
We are currently seeking young people for two dynamic leadership programs at Brooklyn Community Foundation:
New! Reproduction Justice Activists
As a project of our Girls of Color fund, the Reproductive Justice Activists program seeks to center the voice and leadership of young women, non-binary youth, and allies in an effort to imagine and create a society free from all forms of reproductive oppression. Over a ten month period, a cohort of 10-12 young activists will work closely with our team to build a Reproductive Justice advocacy strategy. Activists will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Reproductive Justice, current local and national issues, and develop their organizing and activism skills.
Applicants should be young persons of color in Brooklyn between the ages of 16 and 24 with at least two years of activism or organizing experience and the ability to attend monthly meetings in Brooklyn from September 2017 - June 2018. Participating youth will receive a $1500 stipend. Online applications for our inaugural Reproductive Justice Activists must be submitted by Friday, September 8, 2017.
Now entering its third year, our Brooklyn Youth Fellowship is a youth-led grantmaking program that sees youth as experts and central players in making decisions around supporting youth-centered and youth-led projects. Over a 10 month period, Fellows participate in trainings, strategic planning discussions for the Foundation, and design their own Youth Summit and youth-led grantmaking process called the Youth Voice Awards.
Applications should be young persons of color from Brooklyn between the age of 16 and 24 able to commit to attending monthly in-person meetings in Brooklyn and calls as necessary. They should also be
passionate, self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to achieving racial justice and interested in moving resources to address the impact of racial oppression on young people of color. Participants will receive a $1500 stipend for the Fellowship. Online applications must be submitted by Thursday, August 31, 2017.
