Commonwealth Study Inspires App to Connect People to Doctors Faster
The creators of a new mobile app called Akira hope to make healthcare more accessible by connecting people directly with a certified doctor through text or video chat.
Dustin Walper, the co-founder of Akira, felt there needed to be a change in the healthcare system.
"It came out of our own frustration," Walper said. "There's a lot of good research on why this is so important to do in Canada. [In a Commonwealth study] Canada placed dead last when it comes to timely access to a family doctor."
