United Way of New York City Releases 2014 Self-Sufficiency Standards

United Way of New York City (UWNYC), in partnership with the Women's Center for Education and Career Advancement, The New York Community Trust, and City Harvest, published the 2014 Self-Sufficiency Standard Report (SSSR)—a study that establishes the new template for how we view economic self-sufficiency in New York City. In partnership with media giant, Crain's New York Business, we officially released the report at a panel event held at The New School featuring key leaders from the business, foundation, nonprofit, and government sectors.

This report is being published at a critical time for our city, and truly highlights that the obstacles to self-sufficiency are interdependent, so the solutions must be interconnected. This is where UWNYC is uniquely positioned to break down the silos that prevent these families from attaining self-sufficiency, and join key sectors together as a singular community to address these systemic issues.
