Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Names Rafael Maldonado as Vice President and Chief Information Technology Officer

Princeton, N.J.—The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) announced today that Rafael Maldonado has been named vice president and chief information technology officer. In this role, Maldonado will be a key member of the Foundation’s leadership team, responsible for the strategic development and advancement of information technology and cyber security. He will join the Foundation on January 10, 2022.

Maldonado comes to the Foundation with more than 30 years of information technology experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining the Foundation, he served as vice president and chief information officer at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), one of the largest trade associations in the United States. In that role, he was responsible for overseeing all of the Association’s information systems, information security, and information technology.

“We are thrilled to have Rafael join the RWJF team,” said Chief Operating Officer Melvin J. Galloway. “His strategic approach to creating forward-looking information systems and ensuring cyber security will serve the Foundation well in all that we do.”

Previously, Maldonado served as global director of IT for ContourGlobal, a developer and operator of electric power and district heating businesses in 14 countries. In that role, he led IT global strategic planning and operations for the company.

Maldonado served in the U.S. Army from 1988 to 1998, at Fort Sill, Okla.; Heidelberg, Germany; and the U.S. Pentagon, receiving several service medals and leadership awards before being honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He holds an MBA from the Jack Welch Management Institute and a BS degree in computer information systems from Strayer University.
