Report Funded by The Clark Foundation urges de Blasio to Prioritize Boosting Community College Graduation Rates in Second Term

A new report revealed that just 30.8 percent of Staten Island residents have at least a bachelor's degree -- that's roughly half the rate of Manhattan, where 59.9 percent of residents have an baccalaureate degree or higher level of educational attainment. The report, "Degrees of Difficulty: Boosting College Success in New York City," which was funded by The Clark Foundation, urges Mayor Bill de Blasio to make boosting community college graduation rates a key part of his second term agenda.

Published earlier this week by Center for an Urban Future -- a leading New York City-based think tank -- the study found Staten Island's rate of obtaining a bachelor degree is also slightly behind Brooklyn (32.8 percent of residents have a bachelor's degree), but ahead of Queens (30.4 percent) and the Bronx (18.9 percent)...
