Rauschenberg Foundation Appeals Ruling Awarding $24.6 Million to Trustees
The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation has appealed a decision by a Florida court to award $24.6 million to three trustees who had administered the artist’s estate.
In a statement the foundation said that its appeal, filed on Wednesday in Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal, reflected “the foundation’s commitment to protecting Robert Rauschenberg’s legacy and the ability of the foundation to do its work.” The filing is likely to extend the long-running feud between the foundation and the three trustees, Bill Goldston, Bennet Grutman and Darryl Pottorf.
Earlier this month a judge of the 20th Judicial Circuit made the multimillion-dollar award after deciding that evidence showed the three trustees, longtime friends and business associates of Rauschenberg, had done “an exemplary job” in managing the artist’s estate after his death in 2008....
