The Prudential Foundation Honors Teen for Efforts to End Gun Violence
Brandon Warren, who launched the We LIVE Indy movement to address youth violence in Indianapolis, has been honored in Washington, D.C., as one of the top 10 youth volunteers in the nation.
Warren, 18, was recognized Monday by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards during the program’s national award ceremony. Selected from a field of more than 29,000, he earned the title of national honoree, along with a personal award of $5,000, a trophy for his school and a $5,000 grant from The Prudential Foundation for a nonprofit charitable organization of his choice. In his case, that nonprofit will be We LIVE, he said by phone Monday evening.
The Warren Central High School senior organized We LIVE and with it a citywide peace march in Indianapolis last summer to stand against youth violence, following the fatal shooting of Dijon Anderson, a friend and fellow football player....
