Scranton area residents are highly familiar with the good works and deep pockets of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.
Today, the foundation is among the biggest in the United States, with more than $2 billion in assets and more than $100 million in grants distributed to nonprofits annually.
Millions of that funding have gone to dozens of local institutions, including the University of Scranton, Allied Services, United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Marley’s Mission, Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple and the city of Scranton.
