NYS Health Foundation and The Laurie M. Tisch Center for Food, Education & Policy, Release New Reports on Strengthening Nutrition Education for New Yorkers
Nutrition education programs are designed to increase healthy food choices and improve nutrition-related behaviors. However, very little research has been done on how New York State and New York City currently support, implement, and coordinate nutrition education. To strengthen policies and programs, communities, elected officials, local providers, and researchers must understand the complex public health systems that currently support nutrition education at the City and State levels.
Both the City report and the State report offer a road map to further strengthen policies and programs that help New Yorkers buy, grow, prepare, eat, and advocate for healthier foods. The reports give an overview of nutrition education policies and why stronger support is needed for them.
