New Online Tool Created With Support from OSF Helps Immigrants Make a Plan

The Immigration Advocates Network has a new online tool to help people who are worried about aggressive immigration enforcement actions. "Make a Plan," on immi.org provides basic information to help individuals and families prepare for potential detention or deportation.

Make a Plan is available in English and Spanish at www.immi.org/home/make_a_plan.  This easy-to-use, confidential tool has questions and answers to help immigrants be ready. Make a Plan covers who can take care of children, how to find detained family members, how to take care of homes, bank accounts, insurance, and other personal matters. The quiz is interactive and tailored to provide the right information.

"We created Make a Plan to give people peace of mind," said Pat Malone, Associate Director at Immigration Advocates Network (IAN). "We all hope we never need our emergency plans, but it's important to be prepared."

Make a Plan is the newest addition to immi.org, a plain language website that helps people understand legal rights in the U.S. and paths to legal immigration status. Immi features "know your rights" articles, a quiz to identify options for legal status, and a searchable directory of over 1,000 nonprofits providing immigration legal assistance.  The site was created with support from Open Society Foundations and Grove Foundation...
