That's gotta hurt.
Nearly two dozen teachers at Brooklyn’s New American Academy took pay cuts, some in the $50,000 range, after Education Department officials killed an experimental pay program at the school.
Highly qualified instructors at the public elementary school in Crown Heights were once paid up to $125,000 to oversee classes of as many as 60 kids.
But for this academic year, which started Sept. 7, those same teachers are being paid on the regular scale, in which new teachers start as low as $54,000. . .
