National Grid Foundation to Help Communities Address Food Insecurity and Human Services Impacted by COVID-19
May 4, 2020 /3BL Media/ - The National Grid Foundation Board of Directors today announced a $500,000 donation for 45 community organizations across Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island to help support hunger relief and human services for people in need and struggling from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, including those providing meals to children and families, and those assisting first responders.
Since its inception in 1998, the National Grid Foundation has had a long history of positive community impact. In addition to previously announced grants and support made by the corporate entity, National Grid, the Foundation’s largest grants are earmarked for the following organizations. “Helping to build stronger communities is at the heart of the Foundation’s DNA, so these gifts are a natural extension of our goal to inspire change, and help improve lives,” said Eileen R. Cohen, chair, National Grid Foundation. “With so many facing financial hardship, out of school, unsettled and unsure where a next meal will come from because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Board directed funding to partner with many critical social service organizations, primarily to help provide access to food in the communities we serve, as well as assist in addressing many of the needs created by this pandemic.”
The National Grid Foundation is an independent, non-profit, charitable organization, that was started by one of National Grid’s predecessor companies more than two decades ago. The Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life, economic strength and environmental stewardship across National Grid’s service territory. Since it began in December 1998, the Foundation has provided more than $27 million in grants to hundreds of organizations.
