McConnell Says Wife Won't Resign From Bloomberg Over Coal Policy Stance
 
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said his wife, former U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, has no plans to leave the Bloomberg Philanthropies board, despite the foundation's support for efforts to reduce coal use in the U.S.
 
McConnell, who is running for re-election and campaigning as pro-coal, responded to a question about whether his wife would resign from the foundation saying, "She's not going to resign. They do a lot of good things. They do some things she does not approve of, and she doesn't approve of their efforts in the coal industry."
 
Before Chao joined in 2012 as a board member, Bloomberg pledged in 2011 to spend $50 million over four years on the Sierra Club's "Beyond Coal" campaign, which seeks to eliminatie one in three coal-fired power plants by 2020....
