Macquarie Group and Its Employees Donate $100,000 To Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts
Macquarie Group Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Macquarie Group, today announced a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross to aid in immediate relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Harvey was responsible for producing life-threatening flooding for both coastal and inland cities in Texas, which is now a federal state of disaster.
"Hurricane Harvey was a devastating storm that forced the city of Houston and our community into extreme circumstances,” said Nicholas O’Kane, head of Macquarie’s Houston office. “The response, dedication and incredible sense of duty displayed by local staff and our people around the world, have been nothing short of exceptional. We are incredibly proud of this staff-led fundraising effort for the American Red Cross and will continue to work closely with local community organizations to aid with relief efforts.”
In addition to the $100,000 raised by employees for the American Red Cross, Houston employees are actively volunteering time at the NRG Center, which serves as a shelter for more than 2,000 displaced victims. Staff continue to partner with a number of local nonprofits to assist homeowners in mucking out debris caused by the storm, as well as collaborating with a food banks to sort, pack and distribute donated food items.
Macquarie remains committed to relief and long-term recovery efforts for Houston and the surrounding communities, with several volunteer events planned in the coming weeks. . .
