JPMorgan Chase & Co. Has Officially Launched The Fellowship Initiative

JPMorgan Chase & Co. has officially launched The Fellowship Initiative (TFI) in Dallas, TX, in collaboration with Big Thought, a local Dallas organization that has been working with young people in the city for many years.

This intensive academic, leadership and development program will provide increased education and career opportunities for young men of color in Dallas by helping to build their skills, networks and ability to access resources.

Despite a growing economy, nearly one in three Dallas children live in poverty – the highest child poverty rate of any city larger than 1 million people. Through TFI, JPMorgan aims to combat this issue by providing more young people in Dallas with access to opportunity and a chance to move up the economic ladder.

Earlier this year, J.P Morgan celebrated the graduation of 117 Fellows from TFI classes in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago – a 100 percent graduation rate.  The story of one of these amazing young men is featured in this recent video from Vice. Combined, they have been accepted to over 200 colleges and universities, and more than half were the first in their family to attend college.

Equipping people – especially young people – with the skills they need to compete for jobs has the ability to transform lives and strengthen economies. Much of the firm’s efforts are focused on helping young people succeed through training, work experience and mentorship, and TFI is one program where we’ve seen incredible results.
