Was the commute on New York City’s subway this month worse than last month? Did it feel like the trains were running slower because it was a hot and sticky morning? Exactly how many minutes of the day were spent on delayed trains or crowded platforms?
These are questions for which, until now, there were no easy answers.
On Monday, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced a new system for both tracking delays on the subway as well as informing the public about the reasons for the problems.
