At Independent Sector’s annual conference, Stephen Heintz, President of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, revealed that RBF and six other major foundations — including the Rockefeller Foundation, the Open Society Foundations and the Carnegie Corporation of New York — are funding a "National Purpose Initiative" to engage hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of Americans, online and face-to-face, in order to create a shared agenda of national priorities by 2016.
