At Ford Event, de Blasio Says Cities Must Innovate Since Feds and State Won’t
Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday appeared to abandon any belief that higher levels of government have any interest in helping New York City grapple with income inequality.
“In the end, on so many issues of inequality and so many economic isues, cities have to innovate solutions, because no level of government above us has the political will or takes the responsiblity for those issues, even though it should be their natural responsibility,” de Blasio said during the launch of the Inclusive Growth in Cities Campaign.
De Blasio ran for mayor on a “tale of two cities” platform, and the notion of income inequality is central to how he conceives his administration. . .
