Bend the Arc was among the organizations mobilizing support in California on behalf of legislation requiring overtime pay for domestic employees, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

Californians who hire a nanny, a cook, a maid or other domestic employees would be required to pay them overtime wages under a landmark bill that awaits Gov. Jerry Brown's signature. The California Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, proposed by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, D-San Francisco, would make the state the first in the nation to mandate time-and-a-half pay for home-based employees who work more than 9 hours a day or 45 hours a week...
