Cricket Island Foundation Releases New Case Study on the Impact of Small Foundations

Liz Sak, Executive Director of Cricket Island Foundation, together with Seema Shah of COMM|VEDA Consulting and Anna Pond of Anna Pond Consulting recently authored an article in Foundation Review, a peer-reviewed journal on the field of philanthropy.

"Several years ago, in conjunction with our 15-year anniversary, Cricket Island commissioned an assessment to understand the impact of our grantmaking strategy – one focused on supporting grassroots youth-led social change organizations through multi-year general operating support and dedicated capacity-building support. As a small foundation with modest resources, this was a major step for us and we learned many lessons from the process.

In the spirit of shared learning, we recently published our findings and our reflections on the process in Foundation Review. The article, “Cricket Island Foundation A Case Study of a Small Foundation’s Impact Assessment“ offers a detailed look at the assessment, its findings, and how the results catalyzed shifts in our grantmaking practices. The article also offers broader reflections on what it takes for small foundations to embed learning and assessment into their work in meaningful ways, without incurring significant costs."
