Con Edison Among Backers of 24-Hour Hackathon and Youth Tech Challenge in Brooklyn
 
More than two dozen youth from across Central Brooklyn gathered for the first part of a 24-Hour Hackathon and Youth Tech Challenge presented by Central Brooklyn State Sen. Jesse Hamilton and Blue 1647 hosted at the Nigerian American Muslim Integrated Community in Prospect Heights.
 
The students, aged 12-17, were challenged to design and create an app in 24 hours under the instruction of Blue 1647 trainers. Student presentations took place on Sunday morning. It was moving to see these Brooklyn youth come together in just 24 hours.
 
Partnering in the event was Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams, Assembly Members Diana Richardson (Crown Heights, Lefferts Gardens), and Latrice Walker (Brownsville), and City Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo (Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Prospect Heights), the Nigerian American Muslim Integrated Community, CAMBA, Light the World Foundation, Google, Cablevision, Con Edison, the Mac Support Store, Golden Krust Bakery, Tropical Paradise Restaurant and Bakery of East Flatbush. . .
