Century Foundation Releases Proposals to Strengthen ACA

In just under six years, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has succeeded in enrolling millions of people in health insurance coverage—despite facing a range of obstacles, from political opposition to widespread public misunderstanding.

But while the ACA has achieved considerable success since becoming law, our health care system continues to face serious challenges.

In a new report, Key Proposals to Strengthen the Affordable Care Act, health care experts Harold Pollack and Timothy Jost identify nineteen steps that federal, state, and local actors can take to ensure that health care in America is accessible and consumer friendly. The recommendations span four areas, including:

  • Expanding Access to Health Coverage for Moderate-Income Americans
  • Making Health Care Affordable
  • Improving the Consumer Marketplace Experience
  • Improving Medicaid for Low-Income Americans. . .
