Brooklyn Community Foundation Encourages Donors to Give Where They Live with $100,000 Match
Brooklyn is setting out to prove that it’s New York City’s most generous borough this holiday season with #BrooklynGives on Giving Tuesday, a 24-hour giving day that aims to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local nonprofits.
Taking place on Tuesday, November 28—the Tuesday after Thanksgiving celebrated around the world as Giving Tuesday—#BrooklynGives is led by Brooklyn Community Foundation, which is matching up to $100,000 in donations made that day to select nonprofits at www.BrooklynGives.org. #BrooklynGives is presented in partnership with the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by TD Bank with support from National Grid.
To encourage Brooklyn residents to give where they live and learn about often overlooked local nonprofits, Brooklyn Community Foundation is issuing the donation challenge in support of 20 organizations that are finalists for its Spark Prize, which honors Brooklyn’s leading nonprofit changemakers.
