Bank of America Charitable Foundation Gives $500,000 to Anti-Poverty Effort
 
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation is giving $500,000 to the Shriver Corps, an initiative to train volunteers to help poor Americans connect with programs they may not know about but that could help lift them out of poverty.
 
The Shriver Corps is the creation of Maria Shriver, whose father Sargent Shriver was the founding director of the Peace Corps and who headed President Lyndon B. Johnson's War on Poverty.
 
Bank of America foundation support will underwrite 20 fellows working in six cities over the next three years. Foundation president Kerry Sullivan described the grant as part of a larger effort to encourage students to engage in service to communities….
