American Express Chairman and CEO Steve Squeri Share COVID-19 Funding Memo
American Express has a long history of backing our communities, especially during times of need.
I’m proud to announce that the American Express Foundation is making $2 million in grants to organizations around the world that are helping combat the COVID-19 outbreak, including the International Medical Corps, the CDC Foundation, Feeding America and the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization.
In China, we also contributed to the Hubei Red Cross Foundation at the beginning of the outbreak there, and we will continue to work with our teams around the world to distribute donations in areas where support is most needed.
Our grants will help provide protective equipment to frontline healthcare workers, support the development of vaccines and research, and help feed people impacted in our communities, among other critical needs.
The health and safety of our colleagues, customers and our communities are of the utmost importance right now. We undoubtedly have more challenging days ahead, but I know we are up to it and will come out stronger because of you, our dedicated colleagues, and your continued focus on backing our customers, communities, partners and one another.
