Albany, Glens Falls among Regions Adding Jobs in New York
The Albany-Schenectady-Troy, New York, metro area added 400 private-sector jobs in August, up 0.1 percent from August 2016. In the Glens Falls metropolitan area, 200 jobs were created in the same period. Statewide, the Rochester and Buffalo-Niagara Falls metro areas lost private-sector jobs over the past year, 1,300 and 100 respectively.
In the Albany metro area, professional and business services was the sector that lost the most jobs, down 2,300 since last August. Manufacturing was among the other industries that lost jobs, with 500.
The top three industries that added jobs were: education and health services, with 1,700; health care and social assistance, with 1,600; and leisure and hospitality, with 1,600 jobs.
The trade, transportation and utilities industry was among the private-sector industries in the Glens Falls metro that saw the most growth since last August with 200 jobs. Professional business services and manufacturing each lost 100 jobs in that area over the year...
