Aetna Foundation’s Healthiest Communities Initiative Provides Insight into Social Determinants of Health
The purpose of the Healthiest Communities project is to provide residents, policymakers and health leaders with insight into factors called the social determinants of health that affect everyone's quality of life and longevity. These factors can combine to create a community where residents can thrive, or where they can struggle to survive.
Healthiest Communities is a data-driven counterpart to the Aetna Foundation's Healthiest Cities & Counties Challenge, an award program recognizing communities that can show measurable improvements in their health and wellness. The project also joins a field that includes the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's collaboration with the University of Wisconsin on the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program, as well as the foundation-backed 100 Million Healthier Lives project and United Health Foundation's America's Health Rankings – all designed to inform policymakers and provide a foundation for change...
