THE ROLE AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: The Nathan Cummings Foundation (NCF) is seeking a Technology Director who will shape and advance NCF's technology vision and strategy across digital infrastructure, AI, and the full ecosystem of tools that connect how the foundation operates internally and engages externally. You will work as a cross-organizational partner, collaborating closely with the CEO, and the Managing Director of Operations and Asset Management, to whom this role reports.
This is a role for someone who leads with vision, moves with purpose, and brings both technical fluency and people-centered instincts to their work. The Technology Director we seek is self-directed, sets clear priorities, and knows how to drive outcomes in a values driven, resource-conscious environment. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Develop and drive NCF's technology strategy, ensuring infrastructure, tools, and architecture are purposefully aligned to organizational priorities and long-term growth.
- Lead the intentional adoption of AI, establishing policy and governance frameworks for responsible use and supporting staff to integrate AI tools into their daily work.
- Monitor emerging technologies and advise leadership on opportunities that strengthen operations, reduce risk, and position NCF for continued innovation.
- Champion innovation across the organization, identifying where technology and systems thinking can unlock new and more effective ways of working.
Systems
- Steward NCF's full technology ecosystem, ensuring all systems and infrastructure are reliable, resilient, and future-ready.
- Design and uphold technology policies and governance, setting clear standards for hardware, software, and security that promote consistency and organizational readiness.
- Ensure NCF's information architecture supports learning, insight generation, and operational effectiveness.
- Lead AV systems strategy and oversight, ensuring NCF's meeting and event technologies are current and reliable
Operations
- Manage vendor and consultant relationships, setting clear standards and holding external partners accountable for the quality and reliability of all technology services and deployments.
- Lead complex, cross-functional technology projects, ensuring timelines, resources, and deliverables align with organizational goals.
- Bring a technology lens and contribute to organizational risk management, continuity planning, and resource allocation as an active member of the Operations Department.
- Document and codify technology ways of working, including standards, processes, and best practices.
Organizational Efficiency
- Build staff technology literacy, equipping teams with the skills and confidence to use systems, information, and AI effectively in their work.
- Assess, select, and implement technology tools that strengthen how the organization works, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and thoughtful adoption.
- Model collaborative leadership, building trust and ensuring technology decisions reflect organizational values and priorities.
- Participate in cross-department solution teams and other working groups; perform other duties or special projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 6+ years of experience in technology leadership and systems management, with demonstrated ability to manage complex systems, vendors, and cross-functional workflows.
- Strong understanding of AI tools, large language models, information systems, and emerging technologies, with the ability to guide organizational adoption.
- Fluency across enterprise technology environments, including cloud-based platforms and productivity tools; working familiarity with automation and scripting concepts is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across functions.
- Ability to connect the work of technology and operations to a broader social mission.
SALARY RANGE: $154,000-$187,000. At NCF, fairness and transparency shape our compensation. Salaries for all positions are evaluated based on applicable qualifications and experience, leveraging data from third-party benchmarking to fall within the median salary range.
