Carnegie Corporation seeks to hire a Manager of Web, Platforms and Analytics reporting to the Principal Director, Creative Services and Audience Engagement in the Communications Department.

This position will own and oversee the day-to-day management of digital platforms, websites, and email/newsletter dissemination including posts, updates, development, optimization, and troubleshooting, assist in the development and planning of a brand refresh and website redesign, including the migration of Carnegie.org to a new platform, collaborate closely with team members and Corporation staff as needed. Create a system for analyzing communications data and activities to provide actionable insights and reporting to help improve the performance of content across social and digital channels and external visibility and develop strategies to ensure that the best practices are implemented by the Communications team, including a special emphasis on audience engagement, targeting, and search engine optimization (SEO).

Responsibilities:

  • Systems and platform management: Own updates and oversee all aspects of Carnegie.org, microsites, third-party sites, apps, and a range of digital platforms. Hands-on responsibilities include routine technical updates to the website and content updates that require attention to detail and design; troubleshooting for broken links; conducting regular audits to identify errors; monitoring the performance of content management systems; importing grant information into a public-facing database; contracting and management of relationships with website and digital developers.
  • Website rebuild: Act as key liaison with vendors; assist in the project management, planning, and development of our new website redesign (and brand refresh), including the migration of Carnegie.org and databases and grants management system to the new platform. Advise on new website’s specifications and implementation, including quality checks for compatibility of vendor deliverables; and attend all related planning meetings.  
  • Web publishing: Own requests for publishing content to the website and other platforms while working closely with the content and dissemination team; streamline the process of creating pages; and ensure that all assets are properly optimized. 
  • Audience engagement: Develop a strategy for targeting, tracking, and monitoring audiences to obtain a deep understanding of who they are, how to engage them, and how to keep and cultivate their interests. This includes social media and website audiences; print subscribers; and office visitors. Provide technical and data expertise for content production and marketing campaigns, particularly social media assets and tactics. 
  • Data infrastructure and analysis: Under the guidance of the Principal Director, Creative Services and Audience Engagement, develop a data infrastructure to include monitoring, reporting, and presenting of insights related to platform performance and audience management and engagement. Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and assist in implementing new practices. Create and manage a dashboard to aggregate, visualize, and translate data into actionable results. Use data to make sure content is performing and to improve user experience.
  • Search engine optimization: Develop, test, and implement best SEO practices for greater website visibility and content discoverability. Research, identify, and write keywords, meta descriptions, SEO-friendly titles, subtitles, and effective URLs. Identify backlinks to other websites for follow-up and outreach. 
  • Mailchimp email program / CRM integration: Manage email program, including strategy; execution; performance; user experience; list growth; A-B testing; and optimization efforts to identify and address quality, accessibility, and SEO issues.
  • Digital marketing and advertising: In collaboration with the social media strategy lead, oversee all organic and paid digital marketing; social campaigns (in collaboration); third-party digital efforts and tools; performance of ads and content; user experience; and ad-related SEO. Manage vendors, budgeting, contracting, and invoicing. 
  • Subject matter expert and leader: Act as a guide, mentor, and resource for industry trends; champion the right tools, techniques, and decisions pertaining to content, design, and social media; and collaborate with other team members in those verticals.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required.  
  • Develop strategies to ensure that the best practices are implemented by the Communications team, including a special emphasis on audience engagement, targeting, and search engine optimization (SEO).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in communications, marketing, or IT. 
  • At least 8 years of experience, bringing best practices, with hands-on platform management, digital engagement, and audience management; at least 3 years leading digital communications efforts for a major organization or agency. 
  • Experience in managing website redesign for a major organization with diverse content areas, including databases.
  • Experience working with various CMS/content management systems in web development and web analytics, search engine optimization, online marketing, and responsive design.
  • Experience with web/SEO analytics platforms such as Google Marketing Platform.
  • Experience conducting user and audience research, A/B testing, and developing and implementing insights based on findings, for continual optimization.
  • Extensive knowledge of mobile technology and the evolving use of apps in multiple platforms, especially for nonprofit and educational uses. Experience creating mobile apps strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, and preferably Javascript; experience with prototyping and wireframing tools, such as Figma and Adobe XD.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with program staff and grantees from a variety of fields, staff in IT; and Communications staff.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to oversee developers and programmers; and to see product creation from conceptualization to delivery and launch.
  • Wide knowledge, curiosity, and nimbleness with the ability to adjust and keep abreast of emerging technologies and innovations in digital storytelling and marketing.
  • Ability to coordinate input from multiple stakeholders into effective product development as well as a constant attunement to user experience.
  • Hands-on experience in production of new media; fluency in Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects and similar products.
  • Experience in developing and overseeing complex legal and technical contracts.
