Position Overview: The Director of JMC Family Foundation will play a critical role in advancing the foundation’s mission, overseeing strategic planning and program development. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong commitment to helping NYC’s underprivileged youth, exceptional relationship-management skills and the ability to foster partnerships that drive impact.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, business or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in a nonprofit or philanthropic organization. Proven track record of strategic planning and program management. Strong financial acumen, including budget management and financial oversight. Commitment to the foundation’s mission with a passion for measurable impact.
Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. Strategic thinking and highly organized. Leadership skills with a collaborative approach to decision-making. High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

The JMC Family Foundation partners with local nonprofits that champion access to quality education and personal development, as well as offers tools to strengthen emotional well-being, confidence and ambition in New York City’s vulnerable youth. We work with established nonprofits that have a tangible impact on the lives of New York City youth and a seek a long-term strategic partner to help them take their mission to the next level.
Our goal is to build a small portfolio of long-term, nonprofit partners who we support through annual grants, partnerships and strategic advice. Together, we will support youth in marginalized communities in living up to their full potential as well as help prevent gender-based violence and improve the lives of survivors.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership - Develop and implement the foundation’s strategic vision and grant making strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall mission and goals. Collaborate with the CEO and Board to set priorities, assess opportunities, and guide the foundation’s strategic direction.
- Grantmaking Management and Program Development - Review and respond to letters of interest, grant requests and other inquiries from potential partners. Proactively Identify 501(c)3 organizations aligned with the Foundation’s charitable interests. Produce and present summaries, analyses and recommendations for proposed grants. Monitor grant progress and effectiveness; support grantees as needed throughout the partnership. Ensure programs are impactful, innovative and meet the needs of the communities served. Oversee the evaluation of programs and provide quarterly updates to the CEO and Board.
- Grantee Management - Serve as a liaison and the relationship manager between the Foundation and grantees including, where appropriate, participation on the grantee’s Board and assisting with event organization and fundraising (ex: JMC Family Foundation Charity Golf Tournament). Help identify strategic support opportunities beyond financial grants.
- Resource Development and Partnership Engagement - Cultivate relationships with potential donors, partners, and industry-related organizations to enhance the foundation’s visibility and impact. Represent the foundation at public events and serve as a spokesperson for the organization.
- Financial and Operational Oversight - Oversee the foundation’s financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Work with JMC Family Office VP of Finance to maintain accurate financial records and interface with tax advisors. Ensure operational efficiency, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and effective use of resources.
- Board Relations - Work closely with the CEO and Board providing regular updates on the foundation’s activities, financial status, and strategic initiatives.
