Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration picked the NoVo Foundation, a nonprofit organization funded by billionaire investor Warren Buffett, to redevelop a former prison in New York City into a building for groups that advocate women’s equality.

NoVo Foundation’s Executive Director Pamela Shifman says that at NoVo, there is a recognition that there is a huge need to focus on support for girls of color.

A poll by the Thomson Reuters Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation found 47 percent of more than 9 500 women from around the world were confident of having a family without hurting their career.

Grants awarded for a first-of-its-kind initiative to address the unique challenges facing women with metastatic breast cancer worldwide. In total, 20 organizations from 18 countries have been selected to receive grants.
