PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The $100 billion rollout of federal recovery funds, along with significant contributions from the philanthropic community, has spurred transformative changes in education policies and practices at the national, state, and district levels. Yet, despite these accomplishments, numerous challenges lie ahead amid the shifting political, economic, and funding landscape. With 2011 around the corner, the Department of Education will outline its priorities and plans for the coming school year and beyond.

This special end-of-year preview for education funders will cover topics including:
  • What are the Department's key accomplishments of 2010 and what are the implications for the future?
  • What are the Department's core areas of focus for the coming year?
  • What roles can grantmakers play to build on the momentum for change?
After the presentation, we will hear from two education funders (to be announced) who will offer their comments on priorities and themes for the year ahead in education. We will then invite you to join the conversation by offering your questions and comments.
