Strategic volunteerism is a critical component of how corporations harness the time and talent of employees at all levels to support nonprofit partners and meet community needs. The Service for Impact working group, rooted in the principles of Reimagining Service, provides a unique opportunity for both corporate grantmakers and corporate volunteer managers to foster a peer network, share successes and challenges, brainstorm on solutions, and explore new opportunities to make a difference in society while supporting business objectives through volunteerism.

The focus of this year’s meetings is uncovering new and stronger proof of business impact of employee volunteer programs that meet community needs, thus moving the employee volunteer programs from a nice to have to a need to have for internal stakeholders.

In our final Service for Impact session this year, we will focus on the “how” of measuring the effects of corporate volunteerism on the business. This is the third of three meetings with the first session focusing on case examples of business impact and the second session focusing on making connections between results and program design. Throughout, we continued to focus on how corporate volunteering meets community needs.

We encourage you to invite a colleague of yours who currently has responsibility for measuring/data/analytics related to evaluating the effectiveness of company benefits – likely someone from HR, but could be Marketing, etc. The goal for this meeting is to discuss how to tap into existing measurement and surveying processes to better track the positive influence that corporate volunteering specifically is having back on your business AND  learn together how to collaborate on measuring results going forward. If you are unable to bring a colleague, we recommend speaking to them prior to this meeting to understand existing tools and available metrics; to inform the conversation we will have.
