Philanthropy New York is creating a new network for members who want to come together to develop ideas, share experiences, and support one another in strengthening diversity within their own foundation. This group, called the Leadership Network for Increasing Diversity, will be a part of Philanthropy New York’s ongoing diversity work. Vic De Luca, President of the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation, will be a co-chair.

Philanthropy New York decided to create a Leadership Network focused on issues of diversity and inclusiveness in the philanthropic sector because many of our members are exploring projects in this area, but often do so without the opportunity to talk with their peers. It will serve as a confidential space where our members can discuss ideas and learn about best practices and new initiatives.

This network (along with similar ones being developed by many of our peer Regional Associations around the country) is also part of the national D5 initiative, through its priority to Build More Diverse and Inclusive Philanthropic Leadership. It will meet about three or four times annually, or as the members deem most useful. We hope to keep the group relatively small, so that the members have a sense of continuity and privacy, and a chance to develop relationships.
